A _six_ hour song? →
I’ve been finding myself fascinated by the experiments being done by the Flaming Lips this year, culminating in a 6 hour long composition called “I Found A Star on the Ground”. I’m working my way through it these days, it can be hard to listen to at times, but I keep getting pulled back to it. They also did a 24 hour long song called “7 Skies H3”. Somehow...

November 24 - Ambient Cheese
Thanksgiving and this year I’m thankful for an outlet to share strange and wonderful music with the peoples of the internet. This week I have a few things going on. An ambient set which forms the center of what might be my favorite hour of radio so far, and then a bunch of songs involving cheese… never let it be said that I won’t go silly if my mood leads me there.
Hour 1...
Nov. 17, 2011 - A Time of Transition
It’s a weird week, one job ends more abruptly than I anticipate, another starts more abruptly than I anticipate, and all the while the wind howls. Does the show reflect that? You tell me.
Another great song from local band Noddy (http://getnoddy.com) tonight. You can buy their album on their BandCamp page.
Hour 1 (MixCloud) (mp3)
Wolfmother, “Vagabond” White Stripes,...
Nov. 10, 2011 - Trains and Drones
This week I trended more toward electronic sounds and sounds that remind you (or just are) trains. I start off in more of a jazzy direction in hour 1, then turn toward electronic, look for trains and drones really taking off in hour 2.
Some great local music tonight from Noddy (http://getnoddy.com), who were kind enough to hook me up with a copy of their new album. You can get an advance listen...
Nov. 3, 2011 - Fresh off the Plane
3 hours before, I was descending into Seatac, but there’s no rest for the weary… hit the house, grab some records and CDs, then turn and burn it back to the station for 2 hours of unsupervised hilarity. You are the unwitting beneficiary.
Each hour of the show is linked to the MixCloud stream or you can right click on ‘mp3’ to download the file directly to your drive.

Oct. 27, 2011 - New Music Jamboree
After a couple weeks of themed shows — which often had a lot of ‘old favorites’ in the playlist — I wanted to do something with a lot of new music, and that’s what I’ve got for you this week. All new (to the show at least) tunes, patched together into something that resembles order. Set your browser to ‘wacky’, sit back, listen and enjoy.

Where it all started - Life in Fragments #1
You find some interesting things digging through old boxes. In this case, CDs containing MP3s of all my earliest shows!
So, presented here is my very fist show, from Sept. 20, 2001. You know, I forgot that it so close after 9/11, sort of puts it in a differently light 10 years on.
In the sound is kind of crummy because I was compressing things so much more at the time (all 4 hours together...
Just favorited “We Can Still Picnic Radio 02: Feat. The Flirts, Soft Cell, Yello and More” by Radio Magnetic on Mixcloud.com
Hour one of my show from October 20, where I dig into my recent vinyl acquisitions and see what I can throw together. In this hour: Grapes of Wrath, Art Of Noise with Tom Jones, the b-sides from Bauhaus & a Love and Rockets 12” singles, Nina Hagen, Holger Czukay, something from the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair, The Limelighters, a song about safe driving from the Chevrolet...
Hour two of my show from October 20, where I dig into my recent vinyl acquisitions and see what I can throw together. This week’s theme comes from Tim, who suggested ‘modes of transport’. Not just planes, trains and automobiles (though I definitely have those covered), but I throw in boats, rockets, elevators, and a bike.
Thanks Tim!

I have a soft spot for non-pop (well, and some pop, but that’s not the point) electronic music from the 70s & 80s, and I’ve had some luck lately scoring some fantastic and rare examples (thanks Frank). So, I figured “hey, why don’t I do a show dedicated to that, and to further restrict myself, just take the decade of the 70s — everyone will like that!”

Part 2 of my special on 1970s Electronic Music
This hour can be downloaded as an MP3.
We’re getting around tonight…Mexico, Nigeria, Benin, Norway, Sweden, Australia, Armenia, Senegal, Belgium…Canada and the UK too, but they hardly count, right? Did I mention that one of the bands from Sweden lists it’s genres as “Avant Garde Metal and Swing Revival”. Yep. Oh, and there’s a tribute to fallen rock stars sung by a pro wrestler from Portland in...
